Memorial Day weekend could not have been more spectacular on Shelter Island. It is a good thing we all did not take too seriously the weather predictions for the weekend. One thing we have always known is that if New York City weather stations are predicting thunderstorms, there is a very good chance we will not see any of that on Shelter Island as the most volatile summer weather tends to move right up the Hudson. We just don’t get a lot of thunderstorms on Shelter Island, compared to the city.
We have been meaning to celebrate our new blog with a special offer to our blog readers and here it is: we would like to offer a 20% discount to blog readers who wish to reserve at the Pridwin Hotel in the next two weekends, the weekend of May 30/31 and June 6/7. Just call the front office (631-749-0476) and use the password “weakfish” to claim your discount.
The restaurant is closed as we remain in our off-season until June 28, but continental breakfast (including the famous fresh Pridwin donuts) is available and there are a number of great places on the island to eat, whether you’re looking for a local fish-market restaurant experience or fine dining.
We also have a number of special offers to share with our guests from our friends at the local North Fork vineyards. But more on that later…..
