March 31st, 2012
Each March, the Pridwin, a seasonal hotel in hibernation, begins to waken before our opening the second weekend of May. We have already begun some renovations for the 2012 season. For example, a number of our beloved cottages are getting a fresh look. And we will be putting ceiling fans in all the hotel rooms to continue a process of updates to the hotel all inspired by the style and comfort of the Pridwin past.
This season marks the 50th anniversary of the Petry family operating the Pridwin Hotel. We do not plan to have a big party, but rather a season-long celebration. We will be expanding the live music offerings at the Pridwin this summer, harkening back to a time not so long ago when our sign on the front lawn included “Dining and Dancing.” We will also be bringing back beach and lawn activities–some old, some new—the type of things the Pridwin has for these past 50 years been renowned for.
We will also be updating our website to include many new photos, which show the work we have done under the guidance of designer/architect Glenn Gissler (www.glenngissler.com) to update the Pridwin in the spirit of her storied past. This is all just the beginning of what we know will be another great summer at the Pridwin on Shelter Island.
Please keep an eye on this blog for more details. In the meantime, happy spring!
